JavaScript Sri Lanka originally started as the NodeJS Fan Group for Sri Lanka followed by the NodeJS talk presented at the Refresh Colombo by Arunoda Susiripala in 2011. It was just an online group and we used it to share resources and ask questions specifically related to NodeJS.
Things got dramatically changed in mid 2013 as we started working on the first meetup. A lot of people found our group and got registered on Facebook. Most of them were interested on JavaScript in general, not just NodeJS. So we named the group JavaScript Sri Lanka.
Right now JavaScript Sri Lanka is driven by the community, voluntarily. Most of our discussions are scattered through our Facebook Group, but we also have a sound presence in the Meetup.
We are also hosting a bi-monthly meetup: JavaScript Sri Lanka where we meet and disucss about JavaScript and the related technologies. Our meetup is bit different from others, since we welcome discussions and experimenting new things. CMBHack.JS is the one of such experiments we are proud of.
